Meet Ismael Roman

Owner At Roman's Shin Karate

Chief Master  Ismael Roman  - More Than Just a Martial Arts and a Karate Workout!

Master Roman started his martial arts training in 1978 at the tender age of 6 and a half years. His first instructor was Chief Master Steven Chambliss. Master Roman was a tournament star, winning nearly 300 trophies and medals in local, regional and international competitions.

In 2004, Master Godwin recognized Master Roman with an award for 25 years of leadership.


Master Roman was promoted to 5th Degree Master in the World Tang Soo So Association by Grandmaster Shin, the Founder of World Tang Soo Do Association and 1st Instructor of Chuck Norris in Korea, in 2016 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In November 2018 Master Roman was promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do.


Master Roman also holds a 6th Degree Master rank in Sin Moo Hapkido under Grandmaster Godwin. He also has extensive experience in full-contact kickboxing and attained a red patch in the French martial art of Savate.


Ismael Roman believes in building a strong foundation of self discipline, self-esteem and respect that can be transferred to all the things you love to do – both outside of the dojo and during training!

Each class is filled with exciting, hi-energy, age-appropriate drills that have been carefully designed to build strength, stamina, and endurance, as well as develop important life skills. 

Kids enjoy a fast-paced, fun filled, self defense workout that helps them grow in a positive, well disciplined, yet challenging way too!

 Fears and concerns about grade school, peer pressure, bullying, or making decisions alone can be scary. Ismael Roman  is fortunate to be assisted by a team of teachers – many of whom were or still are his students! As an 6th Degree Black Belt, Ismael Roman imparts the wisdom he gained obtaining this rank during Kids Martial Arts, Family Martial Arts, Adult Martial Arts, Hapkido , and the best Birthday Parties in town. How to Get Started

Come join our Roman's Shin Karate facility! We offer programs  Kids Martial Arts , and Family Martial Arts classes. We're well known for our super-popular Kid Birthday Parties and we also have an award-winning after-school program and the most fun Summer Camp around!
